February 1945. Balloon Centre disbanded.

August 1946 closure of RAF Fairlop.

Since long caterpillar RAF convoys wound their way out Fairlop airfield, scores of sturdily built in Nissen huts scattered over the area have lain deserted and derelict.

The camp rots as civilians find other uses for the runways and the acres of grassland.

A motor cyclist died when he ran into barbed wire on the airfield. P.C. Joyce attended the scene.

December 1946. An Ilford motorist was killed when his car hit a tank trap in Forest Road. The cause of the accident was thought to be a faulty steering joint.
